Shooting cracks and storm slabs at ridgecrest today while exploring the Rockies outside of Valemount. Didn't want to be in big open terrain, so we stuck to mellow slopes and open trees below treeline. Average snow depth of 130 cm. Test pit at 2000 m revealed the Jan 18/19 surface hoar standing loud, proud & perfectly intact down 10-15 cm below surface. Reactive to easy/moderate compression tests. Ski quality was buttery boot top pow.
