Coolish and unsettled
Today, a quasi-stationary area of low pressure off the Washington state coast will spread bands of precipitation over the south coast and Vancouver Island. The low will also produce unsettled conditions with a risk of thunderstorms over the southern BC interior.
Friday marks the start of a drying trend as a ridge of high pressure develops over northern BC and builds southwards. The ridge will anchor itself over the province on Saturday and Sunday keeping conditions dry. Freezing levels will rise to a peak of 3000 metres for Saturday and Sunday.
The dominating weather feature today is an upper low centre offshore. This low centre slowly approaches the BC coast and spreads moisture across the south coast and southern half of the province. On Friday, a drying trend begins as an upper ridge develops over Northern BC and builds southwards eventually becoming the main weather feature for the long weekend. The upper ridge will hold for Saturday and Sunday.
