Comments

Sunday, December 4th up in Evanoff Provincial Park. Started at the trailhead 5km up the Upper Torpy Forest Service Road, which is ploughed and in reasonably good condition.

In the morning we observed whumphing on south aspects at treeline around 1,400m - estimating on a 20-24 degree slope. It was isolated to one area, and only occurred once. Very wind blown on Fang Mountain to Fang SW2 ridge, HS 15cm, with moderate winds from all aspects. Great riding snow a little lower down. Group member dug an informal pit around 1,550m and observed a layer of interest 70cm down, but no testing was performed.

Overcast in the morning with clear skies from 10:30AM to 1:30PM, with heavy clouds rolling in from the northwest around 2PM. Started around -18 C in the morning and warmed to roughly -14 in midday. Had cell service between 1,650m - 1,850m between Fang Mountain and Fang SW2. Great day with a couple sunny laps!
