Comments
It’s DEEP in the trees, and that’s where we wanted to be today because the alpine was getting hammered by wind. So much wind that we saw some very large natural avalanches at upper elevations that looked like they ran today (Sunday Jan 5). We were able to find the late December Surface Hoar 100 cm below the surface in the trees and just below treeline, so we stuck to moderately inclined slopes. The riding is darn good right now, but it’s not open season. Keep your terrain choices in check and you’ll set yourself up for success.
