Comments

Hiked the Vista Lake trail to climb an alpine route on Unnamed, a sub-peak on Storm Mountain. Approx. 30cm base over rocks with small wind loaded pockets on east aspects. Observed cracking and whumpfing on the approach. It snowed all day, accumulating approx 8-10cm of new snow. We crossed one major avalanche slope that gets frequently loaded from sluffing, breaking through two obvious crusts, approx. 20cm and 30cm down.

The ice was phenomenal! We rappelled before the bulk of the snowfall. This route is best done early season, before avalanche slopes reach threshold.

Temps were quite warm, felt like -5C most of the day. Wind gusts picked up in the afternoon (3pm).
