Skied up to Burstall pass south and then traversed , with a decent little ski run in between, to Burstall pass proper. A welcome surprise to us was that there was a little bit of decent powder to ski. The approach trail was in pretty decent shape considering the lack of snow. It was cold this morning at the parking lot (-22) but warmed though the morning to a very pleasent temperature at the pass , probably -10 or so . We skied one short, steeper slope above Burstall pass that had about 10cm of powder. Overall a nice day, far exceeding expectations for snow quality. No signs of avalanches, no wumphs or new slides. We found a few localized wind crusts that we could get a very thin slab to ski cut while climbing. Lots of frost hoar below treeline.
