Comments
Had a good day in the Crystal Ridge backside area, including skiing Sugar Cube couloir. Snow as mostly soft powder on top of a stiffer but still soft interface. No signs of instability were noted throughout the day. Conducted a few hand shears in the top 30cms of snowpack, producing no significant results. The powder required minimal sluff management in confined terrain.
Exiting through the Helen Shoulder burn was quite chewed up, and was seeing wind affect in the top two thirds, however that is to be expected.
Happy New Year, and be safe out there!
