Comments
Skier accidentally triggered a slab avalanche size 2-2.5 in the backcountry adjacent to the Lake Louise ski area, resulting in a partial burial with injuries.
The avalanche occurred at ~2220 m on a SW aspect at treeline on a steep open slope.
The slab appears to have failed 30-60 cm down, was about 120 m wide and ran about 200 m. Suspect the failure plain was a facet layer above the Dec 2 crust, but observations were limited due to time of day.
