Saw a small size one dry slab travelling up to Kootenay Pass early this morning, and then did a quick Rutsch block test to illustrate to the class how easy it is to release the current snowpack down to ground with the surface hoar and facets that are present. It settled first with just the cord cutting, and then on the second jump behind the cut. Really need to be careful with this current shallow snowpack and easy trigger points around exposed or shallow buried rocks.
