Lucille Lap

A quick trip up Lucille today resulted in some great views and sunshine but not much powder. Where Renshaw received almost 20cm of new snow a couple days ago it looks like Lucille only saw about 3cm. With the lack of new snow and the surface hoar only buried a few centimeters, the avalanche hazard was still quite low. There were some big cornices up there that looked a little precarious and showed signs of having broken off in the last couple of weeks in places so we avoided travelling on top of those. Other than that we felt safe riding pretty much anywhere in the alpine today. We saw no signs of avalanches in the area, didn't find any weak layers in the snowpack and many steep slopes had numerous higmarks on them.
