Comments

If riding hardslabs and travelling far and wide is your jam, then the alpine and treeline at Torpy have the perfect conditions for you! If you prefer some softer powder stick to the trees. There was evidence of cornice collapses and windslab releases that were several days old in the area, but overall it felt like those slabs are getting stubborn and difficult to trigger now that they are almost a week old. We still steered clear of steep wind loaded areas just in case. We saw one fracture line on a south east facing slope that we suspected had failed on a buried weak layer of surface hoar. We found that layer in our pit today and it too was reacting stubbornly in tests, but unlike the windslab that layer may be a problem for a while longer.
