Comments

Probably the coldest day of the year for most of us as it was -22C at the bottom of PK and we saw a high of -15C momentarily. We also had an ice fog roll through, which was a real treat.

Snow total around Azu bowl was 190cm. We had light SW winds and the snow near ridgetop was wind-affected with variable surfaces. Riding in the trees was excellent over a firm mid snowpack although with some extra friction due to the cold temps.

We saw no signs of instability or recent avalanches. There were 3 old natural wind slab avalanches up to size 2.5 from early last week that have been blown back in. These were all northerly-facing and originated in convex start zones.
