Comments
Skied the high ridge avalanche path at Helen Shoulder, looker's left of the burn area and then went out via the roadside glades. The path has a thin snowpack and I assume it went off or near ground at some point (early Jan storms?). Lots of rocks sticking out and old debris at the bottom. Under the most recent snow it was crusty, not the best skiing but still falling within the acceptable range for our group today. The roadside glade/tree skiing was actually pretty good, breakable sun crust in the sunny spots but powder was found when we stayed to the skier's right of the trees (shaded snow).
Very warm in the sun and got warmer as we went up. No wind or clouds. A couple of other parties in the area today.
