Started the day right with cookies from LBP :-), then headed to the mountains behind Grave Lake, where we found an accumulation of almost 40 cm of dry snow on a (dry) faceted mid and lower snowpack.
The Feb 3rd and December 23rd crusts are there, but aren’t the stiff bridging crusts we’ve found elsewhere in the region.
At 2000 m, it was -7, no wind, mostly cloudy, and the full-depth of snow was 80-100 cm.
We saw small loose dry avalanches out of extreme terrain, and moved small loose dry avalanches as we skied in steeper terrain.
….. And we had lovely views of the Line Creek mine !
