Comments
We came upon this avalanche on our way up to Mear Lake today - freshly triggered by a snowmobile sidehilling. It was on an east facing slope around 1700m. The weak layer was a persistent layer of facets and surface hoar from mid Dec. As we continued we encountered more cracking and small slabs on road banks. We also saw one size 1.5 windslab in the alpine which we suspect was triggered by an unlucky mountain goat.
