Comments

The snowpack was approximately 100 cm deep. Significant depth hoar throughout the bottom 70-ish centimeters. We didn't notice any whumping while skiing or any fracturing. We skied in fairly dense trees all day, and didn't venture into the alpine as there was significant exposed rock.
Snowpack just above treeline approximately 300 meters south of the mouth of grandaddy couloir. Inconclusive results from stability test, the snow above the weak layer did not fracture but completely disintegrated during the test.
