Opal Cone/Ring Creek

We stayed away from:

• Steep slopes

The day was:

• Cloudy
• Warm

Variable conditions.

- trail up to red heather in the A.M. was packed but not icy, snow on the sides was fluffy

- paul ridge was nice pow (except the skin track and ski lines)

- elfin to ring creek it got more variable, with a little more crud near big trees+shade as we got lower in elevation

- ring creek area had some avalanche debris which had turned to icy messes we had to bootpack

- past ring creek snow cover is minimal, some boulders exposed, very bumpy, terrain traps abound

some crusting as the day warmed up, but got better near sunset. paul ridge skis great, red heather trail down to the car skied like an east coast groomer
