Deep powder. Lots of recent avalanche activity that came down from overhead hazards the night before.
Avalanches that we saw likely happened the night before and originated with storm snow on steep alpine chutes that ran and stepped down to the rain crust once they hit tree line.
Be very aware of that deep persistent weak layer as you travel. Conditions were great on the surface but beware of overhead hazards and potential for deep slab activity…
