Comments
Awesome weekend in the Tumbler Ridge area. Significant new snow load in the past week. There were small natural slides observed once we approached the hill. The slides took very little disturbance from far to trigger and we planned the remaining of our terrain choices accordingly.
The slides observed were approximately the top 8” of wind loading that had slid on top of the new snow load. It is observed that this layer has not settled or bonded yet. This layer in the snowpack will be of concern later in the season if a new significant snowfall is piled on top in recent days, without it having time to settle.
Riding conditions were great and an approximate snowpack of 150 cm was observed.
