Did a few pitches up the rock of Devil's Thumb as a break from the Banff Fest. We found 10 cms loose dry snow over a supportive crust above Lake Agnes for an average snow depth of approximately 40cms. The bowl into Mount Whyte looked considerably more white than lower where we travelled. A few pockets of more snow in gullies. Overall no slab or instability of any kind was encountered.
