Comments

Did a lap thru Hankin today for an Avalanche Class, and had surprisingly good skiing.

5-10cm of new snow over yesterdays Melt Freeze Crust. This was dry in the morning, and became moist as the day went on. Prev west winds had built thin slabs, that failed easily with ski cuts on specific lee features on the recent crust. Temps stayed cool, below zero, and cloud cover and winds kept surfaces relatively cool, but in sunny breaks, the solar was intense, and noticeable affected the surface. Ski quality was good, on smooth terrain, and even ok on the cut runs. Cornices are huge.
