Made the slug up to Helena ridge.
Walk through the trees we found snow was relatively support. 80cm a tree line is the story and we would agree that’s accurate. Pole striking lots of rocks.
Our descent was terrible probably had 4 good turns and the rest we just attempted to keep our bases safe.
We attempted to get to the ridge but decided not worth it because it was really wind impacted. Bare would be a great word to describe the conditions.
Relative to last year the snow does feel more supported but of course skiing on 20cm layer of basal facets vs 60-80cm of facets which is a positive.
Always fun to explore.
