Comments
Skinned to treeline on W/SW aspects, traversed north to descend a line of trees flanking the main west facing avy path. Did lots of hand shears along the way, at 40 cm depth. Very variable results; anywhere from not reactive to most concerning being easy planar shear at 25-30cm over facets (planar failures were mostly on SW aspect with solar exposure and spots lack of wind slab). A lot of variable crusts up the slope, consolidated and bridged slab islands between softer medium density slab, normally with thin layers of facets in between crusts. Fresh 15cm snow sluffing off the bridged consolidated spots. Strong warming to above 0C mid day with top layer becoming heavy.
