Comments
5040 hut trip from Jan 30 to Feb 1. Conditions heading up to the hut on Jan 30 were crusty and icy. Crampons were the best tool for the way up. The next day on Jan 31 we saw 25cm of new heavy powder at the hut elevation. Evidence of new slides on alpine slopes on most aspects. We rode in dense trees and had fun heavy powder conditions. Temperature 0 degrees at hut (1300m). Feb 1 saw lower temperatures of -10 at the hut. New 15cm of light powder had fallen overnight. Fun riding conditions on trail back down to logging road. Snow line considerably lower than our first day.
