Comments

Alp >120 cm HS depending on aspect and wind loading. CTH (hurting hand) to fracture at ~70 cm (assuming Oct 26 crust). 20 cm of storm snow which on steeper slopes did produce slough on the 1st day. By the end of the 4th day very staple. Skied 52 degree alp slopes and some steeper cliff bands as confidence in snow pack over 4 days increased. By end of 4th day facets at ground (~120 cm) on one north aspect slope seemed to be degrading (could be localized), if skiing more would have done ECT in that area. Also only skied higher risk slopes in am (up by headlamp), before in direct sun. We had a window of unexpected and exceptional snow stability, very stable (even over steep rock bands snow was stable), and the skiing was great (17 laps completed in 4 days).
