Comments

Parked at gate at 300m. Was able to skin on the road at 600m. From the power house (650m) to lake (800m), travel was extremely slow due to very low snow coverage and icy snow. Above the lake there was mostly adequate coverage, but travel was still challenging to due ice crust

There was an ice crust prevalent throughout the tour. At lower elevation is wasn’t supportive, though above 1000m it became very thick and supportive. At higher elevations there was some wind transported snow, with depts up to 5 cms on leeward aspects. Variations between boiler plate ice and deep-ish snow where very pronounced. For most elevation bands ski penetration was barely 2 cms, while boot penetration was up to 5. Near the summit the wind affect and ice crust where very pronounced, with essentially zero boot or ski penetration.

I would recommend waiting for at least 1 more metre of snow before heading up this way. The travel through the low elevation trees is challenging and slow with the current snow levels.
