Comments

We had some viz around shames today. There has been a widespread natural avalanche cycle in the alpine throughout this last storm. Most notable Tunder bowl went almost wall to wall and there was what looked like a step-down fracture in Geronimo bowl (see photo). The blue line is the first fracture failing in the storm snow and the yellow is the step-down fracture line. Unknown what this failed on but we estimated the crown to be 1-2m deep. Dec 9th crust???

Also of note was a natural in Marys run area failing on surface hoar. 30-60cm deep crown 70m wide size 2. This is a big avalanche for this feature! The slide was very fresh +- 2 hours before we came across it based on the new snow on the bed surface.
