Comments
Skied 3 excellent laps in the Helen Shoulder zone today. First two were on the backside, heading towards Helen Creek (2350-2100m) where we skied from the low alpine off the ridge into mellow rolling open trees and finally into a steep pillow zone. Our last lap was through the burn on the south side, where we found great snow all the way back to the access trees. The lower trees have enough coverage here to ski back to the road without much issue.
Crust is in the middle of the pack in most places I poked at, snow height averaged around 70-80cm, ski pen around 20cm. It felt like the south aspect of the shoulder ridge was starting to cream out a bit from solar input.
