• Steep slopes

Avalanche conditions

• Slab avalanches today or yesterday.
• Whumpfing or drum-like sounds or shooting cracks.

Feb 22 surface hoar found down 25-35 cm. Easy planar hand shears, shooting cracks and whumphing observed treeline and below, more reactive on solar aspects where sun crusts exists at Feb 22 interface. Also very easy hand shears found down 50-60 cm on facets over a crust - likely the Feb 2 rain crust, likely the layer producing whumphing.

Storm snow lacking slab properties where not wind effected.

We generally avoided steep open planar and wind loaded features,

Recent Na windslabs to size 1 on immediate lee ridge top features.

Heads up - the Feb 22 layer is present and likely will become more reactive as slab properties develop.

Feel more confident in windward (W) alpine features as surface hoar was knocked down.
