Comments

Great skiing in Hellroaring today. Is snowed lightly for the morning then started clearing off in the afternoon as the arctic air moved back in after a few snowy days.

Did not dig, but made a few relevant observations:

- 190-210 cm snowpack depth at 2050 m (open glade in south facing treeline terrain)

- top 50-60 is recent and very low density storm snow.

- 100-110 cm on top of late November crust.

- No slab avalanches observed besides last night's storm snow (about 15-20 cm) sliding on some unsupported cut slopes, max 10 m wide.

- Some loose dry snow sluffing out of very steep terrain, max size 1.5

- No significant wind affect even at ridge crest

- No obvious instabilities observed (no whumphing, minimal cracking)

- Excellent skiing in cold and deep powder
