Comments

Went for a tour in Powder Valley. Conditions are really variable in there, from boot top pow to serious wind scour pending elevation and aspect. Not unexpectedly, P Valley alpine was not saved from last week's windmageddon, but there seems to be a lack of consistency re: which slope aspect has wind scour & cross loading. ie. some south facing aspects are very wind affected while other south facing aspects have consolidated pow (although this does make some sense as the area is less of a wind corridor and more of a wind blender). We were able to find a fun, mellow pow run from treeline down on a south-west facing aspect. No whumpfing observed and generally a well consolidated snowpack where we were. Observed a few old crown lines on wind affected, higher up Paddy East slopes, visible from highway.
