Comments
There was a few centimetres of fresh snow in Kananaskis that provided a desperately needed refresh. The Hero Knob loop was busy today, and the old uptrack that people had been commenting on being slippery is still in only fair condition - the fresh snow helped the traction, but there wasn’t enough to level out the tread.
The descent down Sweet Sixteen was good - still lots of tracks showing through, but enough untouched powder and a little fresh snow to make it an enjoyable descent. There was no indication of instability - any slabs that have been trying to form have been continuously cut my all the skier traffic. There was no indication of new instabilities building up in unskied areas. It is still a thin snowpack.
