Downtown Powtown AST2 Clowns

Riding quality was:

Snow conditions were:

We rode:

• Alpine slopes
• Mellow slopes
• Open trees
• Steep slopes

The day was:

• Stormy
• Warm
• Windy

Avalanche conditions

• 30cm + of new snow, or significant drifting, or rain in the last 48 hours.

Overnight brought 20+ cm of fresh fluffy snow. Wind was calm overnight but picked up and stayed moderate to high during the day. A window of morning sun was overtaken by more snowy precip. Temps got up to zero but the warming was not rapid.

We mainly stuck to lower angle planar slopes, but did push into steeper alpine terrain and noticed weaker bonding between the storm & wind-blow snow and the underlying facets at approx 1100m and did not go higher. We did laps of the stellar fresh pow below and had a blast.

Perfect day to round out our AST2 course with a great crew!
