Comments

Took a quick look up AA col route of Athabasca, turned around shortly after gaining glacier due to strong winds and deteriorating weather with suspect windslab instabilities higher up. Variable riding conditions with a mix of breakable crust, wind affected 4f skiable snow, rock gardens, and ice. Very low tide for this time of year.

Upon exiting we observed a sz 2-3 na coming off the Snowdome seracs at approximately 730am. The slide ran over the common Athabasca glacier approach to the Columbia Icefield. Making it known that spring riding conditions are on hold right now.
