Comments
Skinned up through the trees across from Bow Summit. Skied the glades and steeper alpine slopes between observation peak and observation subpeak. Snow conditions ranged from thick hard wind crust (up to 10 cm in places) to wind scoured rock with pockets powder in protected areas. We skied east, southeast and northeast aspects and found wind effect everywhere. No signs of instability that we saw.
The area will likely need another storm to roll through before the turns are good again but it was still a great day out! Of note there was little to no snow roadside up until past Bow Lake, if you’re looking to ski south of there on 93N expect to be walking from the car. All the lakes are not frozen yet either so west side is out.
