Good skiing above the rain-crust line (~1600m), but somewhat touchy conditions and widespread reports of large natural and man-made avalanches in the region led to conservative decision making well below tree line. Hazards included large snow-bombs falling from trees and recently-awakened bears (recent bear tracks were encountered in multiple locations).
