Comments
In Marriott basin Monday-Friday. Tuesday snow was terrible schmoo and it rained above the hut in the afternoon. Wednesday light-mod snow all day and nice turns in the afternoon on S aspects.
Thursday: the saturated snow refroze into a ski-supportive crust (not boot-supportive) topped with 10 cm of recrystallized powder with little wind-effect. We skied peak 2400 above the hut first thing (crust was evident to at least 2300 m), had breakfast, then did a nice linkup over the shoulder of said peak then around and up, descending from the head of the basin back to the hut. Honey bronzed held the best snow around.
Surface snow was very stable Thu-Fri. We could see one deeper slab on a N aspect which probably released during the rain event and only a tiny storm slab under a cornice.
