Steep Creek

Great early season riding! We rode westerly aspect above darkside lake. Few sharks still kicking around on the open slope but nice heavy powder all the way down! About 70-100cm HS on westerly aspect above Darkside Lake. Observed melt-freeze crust in some areas below recent storm snow (20-30cm down) as well as some recent wind slap forming in less sheltered areas. Gusty at times during the afternoon, wind loading some areas and scouring and forming a punchy top layer. Overall a great day. Multiple recent natural avalanches up to Size 2 noted on steep northern aspects above the lake. Great to see lots of groups out having as good a time as we were!
