Comments

We started with low expectation of the day, deciding to make conservative choices and checking in with the group regularly.

We saw a rain crust at most elevations, but the depth of the crust differed between elevations and slope aspects. We think a lot of this was due to wind. The crust was thicker at lower elevations.

We decided to stay below ‘alpine’ due to the avalanche forecast and small whumpfing on an obvious wind loaded test slope at about 1800m.

We were surprised by the quality of snow on the way down... riding in what felt like pretty deep powder.

Overall, not anywhere as shit as we thought it would be... plus we saw a moose!!!
