Comments

Pretty cold bluebird day in Silver Sands yesterday. About 15-30 cm of new powder is on top of the dense older snow and surface hoar and is mostly too soft to do anything.

We did see some shooting cracks in the alpine and at treeline where wind had moved the new snow, but it was quite thin at 10 cm or so. Also triggered a small pocket in a lee gulley about 20 cm down. Both layers were on the Jan 27 surface hoar, which we found well preserved and up to 10 mm.

It was very cold, and we had a continuous wind from the east all day that was moving some snow around in the alpine.

No signs of major avalanches in the last couple days.
