• Rapid temperature rise to near or above 0°C or wet surface snow.

AST1 course at Fraser

Stayed on simple terrain due to high avalanche risk. No wind in the morning when we arrive and minimal wind during the day. Recent storm loading in places close to 30cm

Snow pack test showed a drop at around 30cm - indication that a skier could trigger a storm slab . 6mm surface hoar identified at 37cm from the surface.

Multiple weak faceted layers at 60cm from surface up to the layer of surface hoar.
