Comments

In sheltered areas up to 2100m up to 14mm surface hoar overlies 10-15cm of fist facets(1mm). Below this 1 finger snow continues to the ground. Above 2200m a 3mm (knife-) melt freeze crust can be found ~10-20cm above the ground with 2-3mm facets below it.

On solar aspects below 2150m a 2 cm (pencil -) melt freeze crust exist with surface hoar on to of it.

There was widespread wind affect in the alpine. Windward aspect were scoured to the ground in places. HS ranged from 10cm at 1000m, 55 at 1800m and 85cm in sheltered areas at 2450m.

Ski quality was high in the right spots between 2450m and 1800m. Early season conditions were present, open creeks, rocks, logs etc. However the snowpack was progressively resistant and carried skier traffic well.
