Monarch trees west

Avalanche conditions

• Slab avalanches today or yesterday.

Went for a walk in the cold to have a look around the snowpack in Atlin and how it survived the recent winds followed by cold snap. In less than 25 degree terrain at tree line I saw one small natural avalanche on a west aspect.

Snow pack was generally weak and my skis went all the way down to willows while walking up, riding down was baseless but deep and enjoyable skiing. At higher elevations in the trees there were small pockets of very hard slab sitting on an entire snowpack of sugar snow.

Temps were around -30 and not much for wind.
