Comments

Skied ~400m vertical from the highway, E side. Generally 2-2.5m HS, alders filling in nicely. 20-40cm HST with SH layer buried 20-40cm down in sheltered areas. Numerous whumphing and cracking around skis. Easily triggered small slab releases in unsupported terrain, bed surface was a melt-freeze crust with SH 3-5mm on top. In wind affected areas, SH not prevalent where the test pits were conducted;

ECTX, ECTN down 30 on DF 1.5

CTH (RP) 22, 23 down 30 on DF 1.5

Temperatures were +1 at 430m (highway) and -1 at 760m

Overall, a good day skiing but we had to make conservative terrain choices to mitigate the SH problem, which is highly variable..
