A great day out with 8 AST students in the snake creek area. We had -8, about 5-8cm of new snow, and light north east winds. We dug 10 pits with around 120cm of snow on average. Mostly weak snow crystals in the bottom half and some mixture of wind affected slabs above.
one test profile we did a 90cm by 30cm column test and had moderate sudden results down 50cm on a very thin layer of weak crystals.
Travel by skis was easy and pretty enjoyable!
