Comments
Lots of good powder in the chutes. Kicking in the skin track was hard going. On the eastern aspects there were spooky conditions with 15cm powder on top of a 15 cm compact layer that sheared cleanly from a sun crust. The western aspects did not have the compact layer, so it was just powder (~30cm) sloughing on the sun crust and was much lower energy and felt safer.
Heard (but could not see due to low vis) multiple avalanches in the valley that sounded like they were coming from the south side of the lake. Mostly small rumblings, but one large one that went on to a good minute.
