Comments
Had a pleasant day skiing fresh snow in the Corbin Zone. We noted mild temps and low winds. Skies were overcast in the am and scattered in the pm. Wind loading was prevalent on most exposed N to SE slopes. Compression test results kept our day conservative as we observed easy results on a steeper convex slope down to Nov crust. See photo and results:
N-NE slope, 2,020 m elev, 38 degree incline, treeline
CTE4,6,6 SP down 20 cm on SH
CTE9 SP down 81 cm on FC
CTM 5,15 SP down 82 cm on FC
Performed a simple ski cut above pit which produced a soft slab propagation down 30 cm, which was likely a result of SH interface. Early season crusts down 150 and 110 cm.
HS: 172cm and ski pen: 15-20 cm on N slopes, 10-15 on S slopes
Snow surface temp -6.3oC, Air temp -6.5oC
No signs of recent avalanche activity.
