Always daunting posting on the MIN, as lots of experts eyes out there! But noticed some change in today's test pit:

After a few days of M to S southerly winds at the hill, we weren't too surprised to see the Dec 22 surface hoar layer now buried almost a foot! On a wind pocket below the ridge, the SH layer stands proud and failed repeatidly on compression tests. Moderate force and a rutschblock then failed on the thiner SH layer 45-50 cm down. Will be interesting to watch as the snow arrives...
