Comments
Nice sunny day at the Farm Trail! Got out for a skin and dug a pit and had some ok tree riding down to the truck from 1250m. Approx 5cm powder on top of a light crust that made boarding and skiing a bit difficult. No signs of instability while we were skinning. I noticed that the crust around 5cm was sitting on a faceted layer that sheared off when I was cutting my column, probably worth keeping this layer in mind as it gets more snow on top. CTH 24 broke off at the ice layer at 175cm, non-planar failure. There was a big solid slab from 55-175cm that I was able to shear off the ice layer at 55cm with moderate force but didn't fail on the compression test.
