Fraser Low Trees

We rode some really mellow stuff in the trees near the bottom of Fraser today. The day started with us quite socked in with clouds, fog and snow, but it cleared up a bit as the day went on. Then, at roughly 2:30 or so, it socked back in and started snowing again.

There is lots of snow down, and it has firmed up quite a bit over the past several days, making travel much easier. The snow in the trees is still pretty soft, but it has heft about it. As you move up onto ridges or anywhere else that is not sheltered from the wind, it hardens up rapidly. We did not encounter any wind crusts, but things were stiffening up rapidly as soon as one got into the wind.

As is typical, the winds were whipping on the ridges, and there was a lot of snow being transported around. We were doing very, very mellow, short yo-yo laps, and our skin track would be completely gone within 20 minutes once we got into the wind.
